What is Riceberry Rice?

Only one in the world, Thai Riceberry Rice, a new type of super nutritious rice as well as a long list of great health benefits.

Researchers from Thailand’s Kasetsart University Rice Science Center have been developing new strains of rice and Riceberry is one of them with the aim of boosting nutritional values and flavour in rice. Thai Riceberry is a crossbreed between two varieties of Thai Jasmine rice; Jao Hom Nin and Khao Dawk Mali 105. Like Jasmine rice, it is a long grain rice that has a reddish black color when raw, that turns purplish black when cooked. 

The areas of Riceberry rice production are in the Northern and North-East of Thailand. The production of Riceberry happens between August and December during wet season.  

 

Tastes absolutely delicious. The interior is tender, fluffy, aromatic and fragrant but with a nuttier, almost sweet flavour.

Riceberry is a whole grain rice that is loaded with powerful nutrition and mineral, is higher in fibre than in other types of rice.

One of the anti-inflammatory agents present in riceberry is omega-3 fatty acids, powerful and essential health-promoting compound to help lower the risks of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s. Riceberry is also rich in antioxidants. gluten-free and non-GMO grain also has a medium to low Glycemic Index so it will not elevate your blood sugar like other carbohydrates.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Easy to Prepare

Cooking Riceberry only takes a couple of minutes and is the perfect companion to a delicious and healthy meal.

Rice Cooker     

1 : 1.6 – 2.0  (Ratio Rice : Water)

Microwave       
1. Place a 100g of Riceberry and 350ml of cooking water in a microwave safe bowl.

2. Microwave uncovered on high power for 5 minutes

3. Cover bowl with the lid on medium power for 25 minutes

4. Allow to stand for 5 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed before serving.
